An independent practice, deliberately small

Nordoxa has advised on materials and corrosion problems since 2016. We work in marine and port infrastructure, process plant, water treatment and heavy fabrication.

Why independence matters here

Corrosion advice is unusually vulnerable to conflicts of interest. A great deal of the technical literature available to a specifying engineer is published by companies that sell the remedy being recommended. That literature is often technically sound; it is also, by construction, incomplete about the alternatives.

We hold no agency agreements and sell no products. When a cheaper or simpler remedy exists, including doing nothing and monitoring instead, that is what the report says.

What we can examine

Our own work is visual and stereo examination, sectioning and metallographic preparation, optical microscopy, and macro and micro hardness. Scanning electron microscopy with EDS, chemical analysis, and mechanical testing are placed with accredited laboratories, and the reports of those laboratories are appended to ours in full rather than summarised.

Working languages

Reports are issued in English or Dutch. Site work is undertaken in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany; document review and remote consultation are not geographically limited.

What we do not do

We do not carry out non-destructive testing, we do not act as an inspection body, and we do not issue certificates of conformity. Where those services are needed we will say so and, if it is useful, suggest where to look for them.
